Energizing Our Lower City
May 12, 2011 | 7:30 am to 3:00 pm | Hamilton Convention Centre

“Our historical city represents Hamilton’s future — it’s the bull’s eye for planned residential and employment growth, and the preferred destination for young professionals and empty nesters. It’s what makes Hamilton a complete and dynamic community.”

Tyler MacLeod
Chair, 2011 Hamilton Economic Summit
Past Chair, Hamilton Chamber of Commerce

Development is happening in our lower city —from McMaster Innovation Park, to downtown and the waterfront, to the north end industrial corridor. It’s bringing new life to mature neighbourhoods and generating jobs and prosperity.

What’s needed now?

  • More private sector investment
  • More development projects – large and small
  • More renewal of existing assets
  • More transportation options

As a community leader, what will you bring to the task?

Be bold. Join us at the summit.

Registration

  • Open to 300 local, regional and national leaders on an invitation basis.
  • $295 per delegate (includes full day program, and breakfast and lunch)
  • Special delegate rate of $95 for young professionals and entrepreneurs available ~ inquire when registering

Goals and Objectives

The overriding goal of the Hamilton Economic Summit is to help Hamilton become Canada’s top midsize city measured by our ability to attract talent and investment.

HES 2011 is focused on achieving three objectives related to energizing our lower city:

  1. Understand the inherent economic value of this area
  2. Produce fresh ideas to accelerate lower city development
  3. Agree on strategic actions to ensure long-term results

These objectives align with the priorities established by Hamilton City Council and reflected in the City’s economic development strategy:

  • Create more jobs
  • Increase non-residential assessment ~ industrial and commercial
  • Diversify our economy
  • Embrace innovation
  • Transform our economy
