Goals and Objectives

The overriding goal of the Hamilton Economic Summit (HES) is to help Hamilton become one of Canada’s top midsize cities as measured by its attractiveness to talent and investment.

HES 2010 is focused on achieving three objectives related to business development in Hamilton:

  • Identify new and emerging local business opportunities in three targeted arenas: 2015 Pan Am Games, People and Goods Movement, and Downtown Redevelopment.
  • Spotlight investment models, case studies and available funding to realize these opportunities.
  • Agree on top leadership actions necessary to achieve business development outcomes that align with the City’s Official Plan and Economic Development Strategy.

These objectives align with the five priorities established by Hamilton City Council and reflected in the City’s recently revised economic development strategy:

1. Create more jobs
2. Increase non-residential assessment ~ industrial and commercial
3. Diversify our economy
4. Embrace innovation
5. Transform our economy
